Inter House Stand Up Comedy Competition

”There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.”
Keeping the spirit of laughter and humour alive an An Inter House Stand Up Comedy Competition was organised for grade 6-8 on 24th April, 2024 where young goenkans entertained the audience and reminded them of the positive and bright side of life, through their stand-up comedy. In grade 6 , First position was bagged by Tagore house with the maximum score and Second position was bagged by Teresa house. In grade 7, First position was bagged by Tagore house and Second position was bagged by Radhakrishnan House. 
In grade 8, Tagore house secured the First position and Teresa house secured the Second position. Heartiest Congratulations to all the winners and their mentors.

    Rolling Pin Activity

    ’Giving children the opportunity to take part in hands-on activities helps them develop a love of learning.’

    For a kindergarten child, there is no division between playing and learning, between the things he or she does just for fun and the things that are educational. 

    Our young learners of Kindergarten performed the ‘Rolling pin activity’ in which they rolled a pin wrapped by a thread, bubble paper and sand paper dipped in various colours of rainbow over a sheet to give different impressions. 
    This activity enhanced their fine motor skills which are essential for self-esteem, confidence and independence.

        Career Counselling Workshop

        GD Goenka Public School, Paschim Vihar, organized a Career Counselling Workshop for the students of grade X and XI. The Principal,  Ms. Rekha Sharma extended a floral welcome to the distinguished guest, renowned education consultant Mr. Jitin Chawla, who illuminated students about the diverse opportunities available for  students considering international education, emphasizing the benefits of global exposure and cultural immersion.

        Concurrently, the workshop highlighted the abundance of  career options, emphasizing the importance of exploring opportunities. Through interactive discussions and presentations by industry professionals, students were exposed to a myriad of opportunities, spanning various sectors, including technology, healthcare, finance, arts etc.

        Moreover, students were encouraged to consider the unique advantages of pursuing higher education and building their careers. It was indeed a very interactive and fruitful session.

          Effective Reading Skills

          “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think”- Margaret Mead

          Understanding diagraphs is crucial for developing effective reading skills. Thus, our young Goenkans from grade I made a flip book in which they drew ‘sh’ blend words creatively and explored onomatopoeia. Each column depicted a different word with ‘sh’ sound along with a simple illustration. Students identified a wide range of ‘sh’ blend words and enhanced their vocabulary in a playful way.

              VISIT TO PRADHANMANTRI SANGRAHALAYA

              VISIT TO PRADHANMANTRI SANGRAHALAYA

              G.D. Goenka Public School, Paschim Vihar had organized an educational tour to  Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya for Class VI-VIII students from 22rd April 2024.

              The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya is a tribute to every Prime Minister of India since Independence, and a narrative record of how each one has contributed to the development of our nation over the last 75 years. The excursion was quite enriching as the museum tells the story of the legacy of Indian Prime Ministers and the history of collective effort, and powerful evidence of the creative success of India’s democracy. The exhibitions were extremely helpful for the students to learn about the history of our country through its Prime Ministers. The entrance was adorned with a 3D printed National Emblem rotating in the air. Adding to the appeal was  an artistic mobile installation of multiple kinetic LED lights forming a dynamic pattern of the National Flag representing freedom, progress and growth of the nation. Overall,the trip facilitated the comprehensive learning for students which left an indelible impression on their minds, inspiring them to dedicate themselves to the mission of taking our country to greater horizons.

                Art Exhibition Hosted by Delhi Collage

                GD Goenka Public School Paschim Vihar curated an educational excursion, leading students from grades VIII to XII to visit and witness an enriching art exhibition hosted by Delhi Collage of Art at Lalit Kala Akademi, Mandi House on April 19th, 2024. 

                48 Students delved into a myriad of artistic expressions, spanning traditional paintings and sketches to cutting-edge digital art and installations. The event was further elevated by an engaging discourse led by acclaimed Russian artist Ludmilla Chakrabarty, enhancing our artistic voyage.

                  Plantation Drive

                  Cultivating Green Minds

                  "In planting trees, we plant the seeds of hope for a greener, more sustainable future."

                  In a bid to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and nurture a green consciousness among our students, GD Goenka Public School, Paschim Vihar has organized a plantation drive on 22nd April 2024 for Grade Nur and Kg students with the aim of contributing to the larger goal of environmental sustainability. This initiative has helped us to engage our young learners in practical conservation efforts.The Plantation Drive has served as a platform to educate them about the importance of trees in mitigating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and enhancing the quality of air and water. By actively involving them in the process, we aimed to foster a deeper appreciation for nature and a sense of ownership in environmental stewardship.

                    EARTH DAY

                    EARTH DAY is celebrated around the world with a beautiful message - “Our continuing efforts in our everyday lives will make this beautiful planet thrive.” Earth Day is a proof that even one person can make a global impact in a positive way. Echoing the same, G.D. Goenka Public School, Paschim Vihar celebrated “The Earth Day” through a series of activities on 22nd April 2024. 

                    Grade II & V advocated “SAY NO TO PLASTIC’ through an awareness rally in the school premises.
                    Grade III & IV contributed towards the species by making beautiful BIRD FEEDERS.
                    Grade VII performed a CLEANLINESS DRIVE and thus, made people aware of the importance and methods of handling waste responsibly and tried to take a step towards a cleaner environment.
                    Grade VI & VIII were part of CLOTH DONATION drive which is a great way to share our relative affluence with people in need and ensures sustainability. 

                    Let's celebrate our planet this Earth Day by making conscious choices that benefit the environment we share. Every small step, from reducing waste to appreciating nature, contributes to a healthier planet for all. Wishing you a joyful Earth Day filled with a renewed commitment to protecting our home.

                      A Journey of Discovery for Nursery Students

                      Embarking on a nature sensory walk has offered our Nursery students a unique opportunity to engage their senses, foster curiosity, and deepen their connection with the natural world. This has encapsulates the enriching experience of a nature sensory walk undertaken by young learners.
                      The concept of sensory exploration, explaining how each sense – sight, sound, touch, smell, and even taste – can uncover the wonders of nature.
                      As our young Goenkans stepped in different buckets, their senses came alive. They marvel at the vibrant hues of leaves rustling, texture of wood, calmness of soil, ticking of grass and feeling of water. It was overall an enriching experience for our young learners.

                        Today was a day about an absolute whirlwind of excitement and discovery! The morning began with an enchanting magic show that dazzled our little ones with its spellbinding tricks and illusions. From rabbits popping out of hats to cards mysteriously appearing and disappearing, we were truly mesmerized.
                        Students of Nursery and Kg experienced excitement on bouncy castle with each joyful bounce, laughter filled the air. With each new day at school, we are filled with anticipation and excitement, knowing that there are endless opportunities for learning, growth, and fun awaiting us.

                          The workshop titled "Mindful Hacks" was conducted by the Art of Living Organization at G.D Goenka school. The session commenced with an introduction to mindfulness and its benefits in managing stress and anxiety. Students were guided through various meditation techniques to help them calm their minds and center their focus. 
                          The workshop proved to be highly beneficial in equipping students with valuable tools to navigate the challenges of the new academic session with resilience and confidence. By promoting mindfulness and stress-reducing techniques, students were empowered to manage their mental well-being effectively. The Art of Living Organization remains committed to supporting the holistic development of students and looks forward to conducting more workshops in the future.
